The Spiritual Quest

"Find your bliss, be fearless and follow it" -- Joseph Campbell

I am a spiritual adventurer. Since I was young I have had an insatiable curiosity about the deeper meaning of life. I grew up in a comfortable middle class suburb. Much of the culture focused upon the newest cars, televisions, movies, mall openings and fast food restaurants. I sensed that life could bring more.

I have always loved ancient history, mythology and art. I would urge my mother to take me to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I was fascinated by the antiquities wing and its ancient Buddhist temples from the Far East.

My spiritual "calling" came when I was nine years old. My grandfather, whom I loved dearly, died quite suddenly of a heart attack. I could not accept the fact that he did not go somewhere after he left his body. I longed for understanding what happens after death. The sadness of my father at the time had a powerful effect upon me.

Since that time I have quested to find spiritual answers. My journeys have brought me into contact with ancient mythology, sacred art and awesome natural beauty. The wonders and varied cultures of our magnificent planet earth inspire me to seek further beyond the distant horizon.

The Story of White Bear

I engaged myself for five years in the study of Tibetan Buddhism. My spiritual studies were interwoven with journeys to England, Scotland and California. I chose to center my life in Santa Barbara in the year 2000.

It was during this time of transition that I had an incredible dream. I found myself in a dense forest near a magnificent tree with deep roots. As I approached the tree I saw encircled by its roots a white bear hibernating. The bear looked up at me with a knowing glance. Then the bear returned to its dream as I returned to mine. I would soon learn how this dream would transform my life.

I have chosen the white bear as my animal spirit guide. The white bear symbolizes the mother, protector, leader, healer and keeper of the dream lodge.
